Metabo HPT Triple Hammer Bolt (WH18DC) Review
Our Verdict
On paper this is a small, light driver with a high torque rating, a dedicated bolt mode and two batteries in the kit. It is a strong choice for a compact driver, with a notably long tool warranty.
This review is based on the manufacturer's specifications, not on hands-on use. The Metabo HPT 18V Triple Hammer Bolt Impact Driver Kit (WH18DC) is a compact brushless impact driver with a mode for large bolts and nuts.
Specifications
Metabo HPT lists up to 1,859 in-lbs of torque, no-load speeds up to 3,700 RPM, and up to 4,000 impacts per minute. The tool has a 1/4-inch hex chuck, a variable-speed trigger and a triple LED light. It measures 4-1/2 inches long and weighs 2.0 lbs. IP56 protection against dust and water is listed.
Triple hammer and BOLT mode
The triple hammer design uses a third hammer to deliver more torque with less vibration, according to the manufacturer. There are five speed modes, including a BOLT mode meant for large bolts and nuts.
In the kit
The kit contains two 18V 2.0Ah lithium-ion batteries with fuel gauges, a UC18YFSL charger and a storage case. The tool accepts any Metabo HPT 18V battery and 18V/36V MultiVolt battery, so it can run on larger packs later if you want longer run time. Both batteries in the kit are the 2.0Ah size, so a larger pack is a separate purchase. A tool-body-only version also exists.
Warranty and price
Metabo HPT lists a lifetime tool body warranty, a 2-year battery warranty, a 1-year charger warranty and a 30-day return policy. The kit is in the "$100–200" price tier.
